Kelly Vandehy brings the luck o' the Irish to GQ4. After graduating from Kaukauna High School in 1981, he joined the US Naval Reserves, where he spent 11 years with RNMCB 1525 based out of Green Bay and Glenview, IL as a "Fighting Seabee". The middle 80s were great to him, getting married to Kim, having a daughter Amanda, and getting a job he still loves today.
Musically, he has been singing with his church choir for 24 years, as well as doing musicals with a youth group, such as Jonah and the Whale, Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, and The Last Supper.
In February of 1999, Les Hanneman introduced him to the wonderful world of barbershop harmony. He is now a member of the Fox Valleyaires Barbershop Chorus. Previous quartet experience include Some New Too Old, Moonlight Harmony, Four Weeks, and Quickshot. All of those helped prepare him for the wonderful opportunity of joining GQ4 in September of 2005. He is really looking forward to a busy and rewarding time with Chris, Brian, and Scott. A big thank you to James Estes, a friend who taught him how exciting and hair raising quarteting could be.
Don't let the last name fool you; Kelly has the luck of the Irish. In 1983 while golfing at Chaska, he made his first hole in one. Two years ago while bowling a makeup game for a couples league, Kelly rolled his first 300 game. He is still waiting for his trophy buck, but enjoys spending opening morning hunting with his daughter. He also has a cat named Pixie.
